Given concern for safety on ride sharing services, Uber introduced Follow My Ride so that passengers and drivers can let other people know where they are. Sharing one’s ride details is pretty simple. During a ride, simply tap the option to share your ride or navigate to the blue shield to open the Safety Toolkit. After selecting your recipient(s) from your contact list, they will each receive a text notification like this:
Clicking on the link takes the user to an Uber website where the passenger’s origin, destination, and current location are shown in real time:
Other Uber safety features are described at https://www.uber.com/us/en/safety/. I have never felt concern for my safety while riding Uber, but I will encourage my wife to use this feature when she rides Uber.
